I just wanted to write a final blog before Christmas to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I have had an amazing year with Serendipity Photography and cannot believe that 2010 will see the start of my 3rd year in business. I have shot 15 wonderful weddings, Shutterbugs has really taken off and I am working with lots of gorgeous babies for the “Bump to 1st Year” package. I have also taken a lot of family portraits and worked with numerous corporate businesses who have wanted photos for their websites or marketing material. My Serendipity Photography Training Days have really taken off as well and I am looking forward to developing this side of the business in 2010. It has been so great to combine my 9 years teaching experience with my passion for photography. Thank you so much to all the businesses, friends, family and contacts who have been such a source of support and encouragement over the year. Running your own business is a huge learning curve for me and it definitely has it’s ups and downs. To be able to say that I do a job I love and am so passionate about is something very few people are able to say so I feel very privileged to be able to do that.
As well as taking photos for lots of wonderful families I have also had a great year meeting some fantastic contacts. In the wedding world I have met other businesses who have been wonderful to work with and I am really excited about the prospect of working with them in 2010. I have got to know Helen from PHWeddings who works as a wedding photographer with her husband Paul. It has been so good to get to know other like minded photographers who I can work with and recommend to brides when I am busy. It is a great working relationship and I am looking forward to more in the future. I have also met Emma Needham and her fiancee Vince who are both wedding planners and run Wedding Daze. They have recently set up their business in Sheffield and it has been realy exciting watching them develop and to be able to work with them. 2010 is going to be an amazing year! Other wedding businesses that I have had the pleasure to work with are: Blanche and Richard from Coco Catering, Mark and Kim from Sesame Catering (Vegetarian and Vegan Catering), they also run Sunflowers Organic Catering, Cocoa Chocolates, Vicky from Passion Beauty Studios, Jennie Beard from Hansley Beard Weddings & Events, Amanda from Fancie Cupcakes, Rachel Edwards from Cakes by Rachel Edwards, Richard Smith from Rich Smith Illustrations a great caricaturist for wedding receptions or any other party/event. I am looking forward to working with all these businesses in the new year. I have also had the chance to get to know some other new businesses through the wonders of facebook and twitter and I am excited about sitting down for a coffee and getting to know them in the new year too…Laura from Little White Book and Kelly from Boho Weddings and Events. With all these wonderful contacts and friends I know that 2010 is going to be a great year!
Another great contact I have made this year is with Sophie Mei who shot to belly dancing fame in Britain’s got talent last year. She is a local Sheffield girl and a real entrepreneur. She has a real passion and flare for business opportunities and I have worked with her on numerous projects and am excited about the photography opportunities that are coming up in 2010. In January it looks like a few of the photos I took of Sophie on a modeling shoot are going to be used as the front cover of “Made in Sheffield” magazine which is really exciting. We had a really fun day doing the shoot with Amie Morris who did the make up and gave great modeling advice to Sophie. It’s great to think that a fun day’s work can lead to other wonderful work opportunities.
2010 will be a great year for Serendipity Photography, Shutterbugs, Portraits and Photography Training. I look forward to sharing the adventure with you as I blog about it all in the new year! Have a wonderful Christmas and a very Serendipitous New Year.
