As the strawberry photographer I get excited when I see anything to do with strawberries.  Therefore it was no surprise when a friend pointed out to me that Breast Cancer Care was encouraging people to throw a strawberry tea party to raise money for a fantastic cause.  Immediately my mind went into over drive as I tried to work out how to have a strawberry tea party. I was thinking about a Shutterbug strawberry tea party with face painting & bouncy castles ….. but that can wait until next summer!  Not willing to wait until next year I was keen to do something this year and so immediately thought of my wonderful friends Laura Green from Little White Book and Kelly Hood from Boho Events.  Both are wonderful wedding & event planners and I knew that they would be the perfect ladies to get on board to help me organise a wonderful event to raise money for Breast Cancer Care whilst also celebrating all things strawberries!

Our first meeting (good excuse for a catch up and a cuppa) was a whirlwind of ideas and by the end of the meeting we had come up with the idea of combining all our loves into one tea party….tea, cake, strawberries  and TWITTER!  The 3 of us have got to know each other through twitter and so it felt only natural to use twitter as a base for our tea party.  Between the 3 of us we have got to know a lot of fantastic people through twitter who have become friends and trusted colleagues/suppliers.  All 3 of us work in the wedding industry and I have been overwhelmed as to how supportive twitter is when it comes to finding others in the same industry.  As a result of twitter all 3 of us have gained business and developed contacts here in Yorkshire and further afield.  It was quite clear that organising a Strawberry Tweet Up was the way forward, a great opportunity to put faces to tweets as well as raising money for charity.

So on Monday 4th October we are very excited to annouce that we are holding our first ever Northern Tweet Up in aid of Breast Cancer Care.  We have paired up with Sheffield’s Millennium Galleries to put on a strawberry tea party that will get your taste buds salivating before you leave your home.  All the money raised from the purchasing of tea, cake, scones and sandwiches will be going straight to Breast Cancer Care.  We have also got together some wonderful prizes for a raffle which will be another way to add to our final total.  It’s free to attend and we can’t wait to network and catch up with other wedding suppliers.

When planning the event we were aware that there would be some people who wouldn’t be able to make the afternoon event due to other work commitments so we have made it into two events.  Kelly also came up with the ingenious idea of having a live twitter feed up on an overhead screen so that our twitter contacts who lived further afield could still be part of the tweet up by sending messages on twitter.

You're invited

Day: 2pm – 5pm at The Millennium Galleries (Long Gallery) in Sheffield Tea party to include, cream teas, cakes, sandwitches and strawberries and cream. Raffle to raise money for Breast cancer Care……..with a live twitter stream projected onto the wall for anyone who can’t make it.

Evening: 5.30pm – late Bar Alibi Strawberry Cocktails.

The event is FREE,but come hungry as we will have plenty of food and drink for sale to rasie money for Breast Cancer care, the raffle money will also be going towards the charity.

It’s going to be a great event and we have had a great responce so far, so expecting quite  a few of you there.
